I AM A VOICE ...
GUARDIAN AD LITEM SINCE MAY 2008

Thousands of abused and neglected children become the subject of judicial proceedings each year in Florida. Their voices are often unheard, and best interests sometimes overlooked in the complicated and overburdened adversary process. Guardians ad litem are citizens who volunteer to become part of a court program to represent the best interests of an assigned child.
The volunteer is a representative before the court, social service agencies and the community. He/she should be a person who truly CARES and is able to give TIME to help a child. Cases usually require 2-5 hours per week. Although 21,000 children in care have GAL representation, that is only 50% of those in need. There remains another 21,000 children who do not have a voice in court and need someone to help be that voice.

If you have an interest in becoming a volunteer, click here http://www.gal.fl.gov/vol_faq.asp to find out more about the program in Hillsborough county and to access an on-line volunteer application.
